Three hard months, two great friends, one life changing adventure. “Fifty-Nine Pairs Of Socks” aims to fill the gap between Guide Book and Weighty Novel. A lighthearted and humorous account of two friends as they tackle the 214 Wainwright Fells. Alfred Wainwright skillfully dedicated thirteen years of his life to writing and illustrating his Pictorial Guides to the Lakeland Fells.  
Fifty-nine is a reference to the number of walking days taken to complete their “Whole Round” in the long summer of 2017. Using a touring caravan as accommodation the pair explored the 900 square mile national park, from Patterdale in the East to Ravenglass in the West. With over 540 miles of walking and 292 hours, the friends climb 176,000m of ascent on their journey to “bag” the Wainwrights. Whilst setting no records, the boys' trip represented a huge achievement, a “bucket list” tick and a chance to “Rise And Soar Again”.
